Daytime temperatures in the city center and coastal areas can be quite humid, ranging between 24 °C to 34 °C, often feeling warmer due to its industrial activity and coastal setting, though refreshing breezes from Balikpapan Bay provide relief along the scenic Melawai Beach waterfront. What to bring: Sunglasses, sunblock, and breathable casual outfits are highly recommended for exploring the city's modern landmarks and coastal spots, while those planning to visit nature-focused destinations or the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) site should carry insect repellent and comfortable walking shoes for outdoor exploration.
